In 2006 werd de band opgericht. Zij brengen sfeervolle, zeer intense muziek die tot in het diepst van je ziel doordringt. Ondanks de jonge leeftijd van de band hebben de muzikanten, hun sporen op de Nederlandse en buitenlandse podia ruimschoots verdiend.
Heins Greten, Harald Koll en Mariëlla Tirotto speelden eerder in hun band Sky's Limit en deelden het podium met o.a. Rosa King. Met zijn soloprojecten heeft Harald op het podium gestaan met gitaristen als Tommy Emmanuel, Joscho Stephan en Stephen Bennet.
Mariëlla Tirotto heeft verder met het Mariëlla Tirotto Quintet opgetreden met o.a. Rolf Delfos, Ronald Snijders, Toon de Gouw, Chris Strik, Hans Mantel, Frits Landesbergen, Gulli Gudmunson en Jeroen de Rijk. Op haar jazz cd " Stranger" speelde de Amerikaanse saxofonist Bob Malach in een aantal nummers als special guest mee.
De muzikale invloeden van de band zijn zeer divers, van de Beatles, Harry Sacksioni, Leo Brouwer, Vivaldi, Bach, Santana, ZZ Top en meer ( Harald ) tot Jacco Pastorius, Miles Davis, Chick Corea ( Heins ) en blues, jazz-en rock zangers en zangeressen, teveel om op te noemen, ( Mariëlla ), Little Walter, Lester Butler ( Michel ), Chris Strik, Steve Gadd ( John ) filmmuziek ( Heins en Mariëlla ), Frank Zappa ( Harald, Heins en Mariëlla ).
De combinatie van een zeer gevarieerd repertoire, boogies, bluesrock en blues ballads in een mix van eigen werk en bewerkingen van bestaande songs, - waarbij in de verschillende nummers aan alle mogelijke emoties uiting gegeven wordt, van hartverscheurend tot melancholiek en cynisch - en het duidelijke plezier dat Mariëlla Tirotto & the Blues Federation uitstraalt, maakt dat het publiek van de eerste tot de laatste seconde geboeid blijft.
De bandleden hebben in een aantal opzichten een verschillende achtergrond: de zangeres is half-Italiaans, de gitarist half-Duits, de bassist/toetsenist heeft een kwart Duitse genen, de roots van de drummer liggen in de Molukken. Kortom, de enige authentieke Nederlander is de bluesharpist.

An exclusive kind of band, their music is intense and full of atmosphere; it moves your soul deeply.
The musicians, having achieved distinction playing gigs both at home and abroad, are - each and every one of them - great as a soloist, but at the same time together they form an unprecedentedly tight group. On stage there's a great deal of chemistry going on!
The combination of an extremely varied repertoire, a mixture of original material and adapted songs, - through which all possible emotions are expressed in the different songs, ranging from heartbreaking through melancholy to cynical - and the evident pleasure that the band exudes, keep the audience entranced from beginning to end.
Their first CD, for the greater part containing original material, was released by the end of November 2008.
The band members have very different backgrounds in several respects: the singer is half-Italian, the guitar player half-German, the bass player has partly German roots, the drummer has his roots on the Molucas.Actually, the blues harpist is the only genuine Dutchman..

In the Netherlands, she has become famous for her jazz album Stranger and her own jazz quintet with performances on national Dutch television, in the programmes Barend en Van Dorp/ NPS radio/ Vara Radio, etc.) for which jazz celebrities such as the sax player Rolf Delfos, flautist Ronald Snijders and Bob Malach (this American tenor sax player used to tour with the Steve Miller Band, a long time ago) have been invited. Versatility is her strongest point: over the years, she has sung in a variety styles in different bands: pop, rock, soul and funk as well as blues and jazz.
